Building Project Updates

We are better together!

Orange Elementary Schools is thrilled to share plans to combine our Dexter Park and Fisher Hill campuses into one, state-of-the-art building that will serve all OES families.

OES Building Committee

In 2015, we created a building committee to help us disseminate information to the public about our building project. The committee meets monthly, usually on the third Tuesday of the month, at 6:15 p.m. at the Dexter Park campus. We welcome you to join us!

Also feel free to reach out to our committee chair, Bruce Scherer, with questions.

Committee Roles and Responsibilities

We updated the roles and responsibilities of our building committee in June 2017, after Orange was voted into the eligibility period for an elementary school building project. Those roles include:

  • distributing information about the elementary school building project to the community;
  • providing necessary information to the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) throughout all phases of the project; and
  • making thoughtful project design decisions on our new school building, within established time and budget parameters.

Feasibility Study

Thanks to grant funding from MSBA, our community recently completed a feasibility study to determine the most educationally appropriate and fiscally responsible solution to renovate and/or consolidate our schools. This study evaluated the physical site and educational program of each of our campuses and came up with a plan to bring each up to safety, technology, and learning standards. Based on these findings, we determined that it was in the best interest of our students and community to renovate and add on to our Fisher Hill building allowing us to consolidate both Orange Elementary Schools into one, state-of-the-art campus.
